Intensive English Program

The Intensive English Program is a full-time English program with an academic skills focus for international students (Ages 13 to 18) who wish to undertake further studies in an English speaking high school. Students who are interested in improving their English ability and are already attending high school in their home country will also benefit from this course.

    • January 7 - January 30, 2019 (*High School Preparation Program Winter Session)
    • February 4 - March 22, 2019
    • March 25- May 10, 2019
    • May 13 - June 28, 2019
    • July 2 - August 9, 2019
    • August 12 - August 30, 2019 (*High School Preparation Program Summer Session)
  • March 11-14: March Break Program (no Intensive English classes)

  • Please note that students may also start on any Monday during a session that is already in progress.

* High School Preparation Program for new international students of the OCDSB will take place for 3 weeks before the semester begins in September and in February.

*if you are enrolled in the high school program following the language school the $200 registration fee will be waived.

Course Structure

  • 22-25 hours in class per week (9:00 – 3:00)
  • 4 hours of activity time per week
    • 30 minutes of homework support or sports activity Monday-Thursday(3:00-3:30)
    • Offsite activity every Friday (12:15-3:30)
  • Communicative and functional methods of teaching)
  • Student-centered

  • Develops speaking, listening, reading and writing skills with grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation being integrated
