Intensive English Program

The Intensive English Program is a full-time English program with an academic skills focus for international students (Ages 13 to 18) who wish to undertake further studies in an English speaking high school. Students who are interested in improving their English ability and are already attending high school in their home country will also benefit from this course.


Sessions of the Intensive English Program have been cancelled for the 2020-2021 school year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. For updates about when this program will resume, please contact at 613-239-0314, Ext. 2114 or at

    • August 17 - August 28, 2020 (*High School Foundation Program Summer Session)
  • March 16-19: March Break Program (no Intensive English classes)

  • Please note that students may also start on any Monday during a session that is already in progress.

* High School Foundation Program for new international students of the OCDSB will take place for 2, 3 or 4 weeks before the semester begins in September and in February.

Course Structure

  • 22-25 hours in class per week (9:00 – 3:00)
  • 4 hours of activity time per week
    • 30 minutes of homework support or sports activity Monday-Thursday(3:00-3:30)
    • Offsite activity every Friday (12:15-3:30)
  • Communicative and functional methods of teaching)

  • Develops speaking, listening, reading and writing skills with grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation being integrated
