 Study Permit and Visa Renewal Information Session

OCENET will be hosting Information Sessions at 440 Albert Street in room C315.
The Dates and Times for these sessions are listed below:

The Ottawa International Student Program (OISP) office will be closed for the holiday season from December 24, 2011 to January 1, 2012. The OISP office will reopen on Monday, January 2, 2012 and staff will respond to all queries that week.

Date: Saturday, November 5, 2011

Bus: 440 Albert Street at the Parking lot on Slater Street

Time: Departs at 9:00am & Returns at 8:00pm

Cost: $45 

Included: Bus and Lunch

Not included: Spending money and Dinner

Have lunch in Old Montreal and then shop on the famous Ste. Catherine Street all afternoon.

 "Cultural Connections" International Student Forum

During the morning of Saturday, October 29, approximately 160 international students from 19 countries who are studying in Ottawa for the first time will be participating in a series of activities focused on making a successful transition to their Homestay and school life while in Canada.

Time: 10:00am / Where: Auditorium at 440 Albert Street

Topics include the best ways to adjust to Homestay life and how to deal with differences in food, maintain health and well-being, adapt to a new school culture, and discover things to do in Ottawa.

The students will learn about communicating amongst different cultures and will have opportunities to share ideas through discussions with each other.
Many local teachers have volunteered to facilitate the workshops. 
Homestay host families will be meeting at the same time to review their important roles in helping our international students get the very most out of their experience in Canada.

 Lynch-Getty Award Recipients 2011

The following students were selected for the Lynch-Getty Award for 2011 – provided for by the Ottawa-Carleton Education Network. Each student was awarded $1,000 CAD from OCENET and a plaque which was presented at their graduation ceremony. The cheque was mailed to the educational institution they will be attending this September.

  • Miss Warda Saqib Alavi - Earl of March Secondary School
    Warda will be pursuing a Bachelor Degree in Engineering at Carleton University in the fall.

  • Miss Monica Seidel - A. Y. Jackson Secondary School
    Monica will be attending Queen’s University in the fall pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree.

  • Miss Ferzin Mahava - Sir Wilfred Laurier Secondary School
    Ferzin was accepted to the University of Ottawa’s Bachelor of Health Sciences (French Immersion) for this fall.

  • Mr. Yoonseong (Ken) Jung - Glebe Collegiate Institute
    Ken has been offered admission to the Science program at the University of Toronto in Scarborough for this fall.
